A note about costumes

From Annette:

A huge THANK YOU to everyone for all of the work you have put into finding, making & altering clothing for your Music Man costumes.  The play has been such a huge undertaking for everyone and it is just going to be fabulous!

There are just a few things on the costume front that we need to take note of as we move forward this week and into dress rehearsals next week....

**ALL CAST MEMBERS** There are still several people that have not shown me any costume pieces yet and even more people who need to show me completed costumes.  I will be at practice on Friday and Saturday in the classrooms on the south side of the building for you to come get your costume marked off.  PLEASE PUT YOUR COSTUME ON for me to see; it is really hard to give you real feedback in the hypothetical :)

**THOSE WHO STILL NEED HELP WITH COSTUMES**  If you still need help for any reason (no time, no luck finding stuff, can't spend any more money, etc.) please call me directly and we can problem solve your situation.  My cell phone # is 801-860-9618.  I have lots of items that people have given me for others to use but I'm not sure who still needs help. Many of you have talked to me in passing when I haven't had my binder to make a note, if this is the case please contact me again to make sure I have you down on my list.

I also met with a lady this week that rents costumes-- for our church group she will rent pieces for 50% off her regular (really cheep) prices, just tell her you are with our stake and musical.
Here is her contact information:

Price examples- Dresses $10, Hats $2-$5,Skirts $3

I picked up a bunch of TEEN GIRL dresses from her that I will bring to practice on Friday & Saturday for anyone to rent ($10) from her.  Whatever we don't use, I will just take back to her at no cost.  She has tons of hats, men & women's that will work for this time period if you are still looking.

**TEEN GIRLS NOT IN SHAPOOPI**
because you don't have jackets & hats to put on to look like you have different clothes like the women, men and boys do, it would be great if you had a 2nd costume option but IS NOT MANDATORY.  You can use the Shapoopi skirt pattern to make a skirt for $2.50 from a sheet (2 skirts per twin sheet).  One shirt should be fine for the whole play.  I also have dresses that can be rented (from the Broadway Attire lady) for $10-- if you are interested talk to me on Friday/Saturday.  You also need to have bloomers to your knees but not showing under your skirt when just standing.  If you have white capri legging with or without lace on the bottom, those will work.  To make bloomers, take a pair of loose fitting sweats or pj's your size, fold them in half and use it as a pattern.  They do not need to be gathered/elastic at the knee but can have lace on the bottom.

**SHAPOOPI TEENS**
BOYS- you will need white suspenders and a white shirt for Shapoopi--- I will be getting you bow ties to match your partner's skirt.  You will wear whatever pants & shoes you are using for the rest of the play.  Make sure you match your socks to your pants!!  If you can't get white suspenders, let me know and I will get them--- these can't be worn as regular suspenders through the rest of the show.

GIRLS- I am making your skirts, sash, hair bow and bloomers; you are responsible to get white tights and a white/cream lacy shirt with a lower collar & 3/4 sleeves and shoes.  The alteration instructions I passed out is just one option you could follow if you needed an idea.  You are welcome to wear your Shapoopi dress the whole play but because you don't have jackets & hats to put on to look like you have different clothes like the women, men and boys do, it would be great if you had a 2nd costume option ---but IS NOT MANDATORY.

**MALES OF ALL AGES** make sure you match your socks to your pants!! NO WHITE SOCKS :)

**WA TAN YE GIRLS**
Many of you have asked me about your costume changes.  Brother Goodman wants us to get some use out of your Indian dresses-- so you will wear them from the Wa Tan Ye part through 76 Trombones and again at the end during the Ice Cream Social. This will act as your 2nd costume so you DO NOT need more than one dress.

Any other questions, let me know :)!
